Carnatic Vocalist
Sriram Kannan has over 35 years in Carnatic music and is a graded artiste of All India Radio, Chennai. He possesses a wide repertoire of compositions from rare tAna, chouka & padha varnams to compositions of a variety of composers pre and post trinity.
He is a performing artiste and brings with him many years of concert experience and teaching skills. He has given concerts at many sabhas including the likes of The Music Academy, Narada Gana Sabha, Parthasarathy Swami Sabha, Kartik Fine Arts, Naada Inbam, Indian Fine Arts society & concerts on behalf of Tamil Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram.

Through his guru 'Padmashri' 'Kalaimamani' 'Sangeetha Kala Acharya' Professor .S.R.Janakiraman, he inherits the rich tradition and singing styles of Vidwans - Tiger Varadachariar, Musiri Subramanya Iyer, Tirupambaram Swaminatha Pillai, Brahmasri PK Rajagopala Iyer, Mayuram Krishna Iyer, TK Ramaswami Iyengar and Vidushi Brinda. Sriram was initiated in music at an early age, by Smt. Indira Menon, a disciple of Sangita Kalanidhi S Ramanathan.

He has accompanied his guru Prof. S.R Janakiraman for nearly 2 decades as support vocalist in explanatory concerts, National programme of music - All India Radio, Sangeet Natak Akademi, Doordarshan Podhigai programmes and several concerts all over India.

Sriram is an avid teacher of Carnatic music, carefully imparting the finer aspects & intricacies with diligence and attention to detail, which his guru lineage bestows him with. He has taught many students in India and abroad and continues to enable people who would like to express themselves through this divine art!
